Gauteng NGO budget cuts reversed

Inyathelo welcomes the undertaking by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, according to media reports, that planned cuts to social welfare organisations in the province will be reversed, and SLA’s of affected NGOs will be corrected and subsidies paid. Inyathelo applauds NGOs that expressed their grave concerns following the news of budget cuts, and that some applications for funding had been declined. Inyathelo urges NGOs, in turn, to ensure that their organisations are properly registered, and that good governance and reporting systems are in place. NGO board members must also be fully aware of their roles and responsibilities.
