While working with organisations and institutions to develop their resource mobilisation capacity, Inyathelo promotes social responsibility, personal philanthropy, voluntarism and self-reliance. Inyathelo simultaneously strengthens the capacity of public benefit organisations and institutions to attract donor support, and also contributes to the development and growth of philanthropy in South Africa.
Advancing organisations and institutions
Our application of advancement is based on an integrated, inclusive approach through which organisations and institutions, in partnership with stakeholders and supporters, move together towards achieving long-term sustainability and self-reliance. We encourage organisations and institutions to build and maintain strong relationships with external constituencies, including the state, beneficiaries, supporters, the media, and the communities in which they operate to bring about long-lasting social change, to invest in and develop social capital and to promote a culture of social giving.
Promoting a culture of giving
We promote a strategic approach to development in South Africa, seeing donors and funding recipients as partners. While assisting in building skills to access giving, the institute also promotes social responsibility, individual giving and effective philanthropy amongst South Africans.
