Mohamed Fayaz Khan
Funder and supporter of orphans and vulnerable children in Durban, Mohamed Fayaz Khan, is the recipient of the 2014 Inyathelo Award for Philanthropy in Child Welfare.
Mohamed is an engineer at Eskom but his real passion is ensuring the well-being of the thousands of orphans and vulnerable children in Durban. His regular and generous donations to organisations like Child Welfare and the Edith Benson Babies Home have contributed towards their sustainability and the tireless work they do each day to protect and support young children.
But Mohamed doesn’t just give money. He volunteers a significant amount of his time and energy to fundraising as well as mentoring and guiding the staff and children at the organisations he supports. He is President of the Board of Governors of Child Welfare Durban and District and has raised a substantial amount of funds and in-kind donations for the children. Mohamed also writes regular articles and blogs to raise awareness of issues relating to orphans and vulnerable children.
