The swell of support for the proclamation of July 18th , Nelson Mandela’s birthday, as Mandela Day brought with it a focus on volunteerism and service as critical elements of a strong society. It should have come as no surprise that Mr Mandela did not see this initiative as an accolade to be personally savoured , but rather took the opportunity to exhort every South African to donate time and talent to community service. read more
