Greetings to you!
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Staff, it is with delight that I send you this letter. After placing the organisation under administration in December 2015, we are pleased to announce to you that the Board of Trustees has appointed Ms Nomfundo Walaza as Caretaker Executive Director effective from 15th April to 30th November 2016. In this period, as leader of its team of directors and staff, she will direct the organisation, help restore stability and move the organisation forward.
Ms Walaza is a human rights activist with experience in leading and providing strategic direction to organisations. Between April 2007 and March 2013 she was Chief Executive Officer of the Desmond Tutu Peace Centre in Cape Town and from September 1996 to December 2005 she was Executive Director of the Trauma Centre for Survivors of Violence and Torture also in Cape Town. Over and above her experience in leading organisations, Ms Walaza is a visionary and has a proven track record in developing sustainable programmes, mobilizing resources and building alliances in a leadership capacity and has strong communication, public relations and project management skills.
She brings expertise in the procurement of funding to maintain operations and projects of an organisation and has worked with diverse teams to implement projects that have tangible impacts on communities. Professionally, Nomfundo Walaza is a compassionate clinical psychologist with 20+ years’ experience in developing impactful conflict mediation programmes on a global scale and possesses high aptitude for synthesizing diverse viewpoints and driving meaningful outcomes.
As Ms Walaza will conduct the external affairs of the organisation, once she has settled in, she will arrange to meet with donor partners, strategic stakeholders and associates to strengthen and or rebuild relationships to ensure ongoing support for the work and programmes of Inyathelo.
We welcome Ms Walaza and look forward to working with her in helping to restore stability, advance the strategic objectives and ensure good governance of the operations of Inyathelo.
