Inyathelo is about to embark on a strategic planning process for the next three to five years – so it’s perfect timing for our Executive Director, Jessica Rees-Jones, to attend an innovative programme on strategic non-profit management at one of India’s most progressive universities, Ashoka.
“This programme has been developed by Harvard Business School Executive Education in collaboration with Ashoka University and Dasra, a pioneering strategic philanthropic organisation,” explains Jessica.
“In an integrated world, you need a broader global perspective to help your organisation to succeed. Harvard Business School has internationally-renowned faculty members who engage with innovative companies across the globe. Their executive education programmes are known to be transformative for both individuals and organisations.
“Ashoka University, in addition, is well-known for encouraging its students and graduates to think critically about issues from multiple perspectives, and to become leaders who are committed to public service.”
Jessica has already been tasked with working on pre-programme case studies, and is looking forward to a rigorous timetable that will span faculty presentations, classroom and panel discussions, guest speakers and small group workshops.
“I’m inspired by the opportunity to represent Inyathelo, make new contacts and extend our organisation’s knowledge and network base. The course content should be invaluable, as we plan our strategic journey forward.”
The course runs from 31 July to 4 August at Ashoka’s Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy, which is India’s first academic centre with such a focus. The university is about 20 km from Delhi, the national capital. We’ll keep you posted on Jessica’s visit to India and some of the leadership lessons learnt on the course.
